XML Training: Concepts
XSLT for Publishing Managers
(What it is, what it’s good for, when to use it)
(half-day lecture)
Many people understand what XML is and the power of tagging textual and data content. But the purpose and power of the standards that accompany XML are less well known. The availability of XSLT, a comparatively easy transformation tool, has changed the way we think about files and their contents. This course covers the practical business basics:
- What is transformation?
- What can XSLT mean for editorial and production?
- What’s easy in XSLT? (and what’s not?)
- What preparation do technical people need to use XSLT?
Prerequisites: Participants need to have a basic understanding of XML and its role in publishing. No XML syntax knowledge is required.
