XML Training: Concepts
XML for Publishing Managers
(half-day lecture)
What is XML really good for? What impact will it have on staffing and workflow? What skills will your staff need in order to implement and live with XML-based publishing?
This course for publishing managers examines the use of XML in a variety of situations: multimedia publishing, application integration, information repositories, database publication, and ebooks. Participants learn about designing XML for information reuse and repurposing; workflow implications; value-added tagging; staffing and training; and the use of XML and PDF in print, searches, and Web display.
If you are interested in using XML but concerned that it may be inappropriate for some applications, or need a better understanding of organizational and staffing implications, this course can help you decide your approach.
Prerequisites: None.
