At a Glance: Deborah Aleyne Lapeyre

Who I am

An XML and XSLT consultant who specializes in running information analysis sessions, writing DTDs and schemas, advising people on how to get started in XML, improving XSLT stylesheets, and teaching XML, XSLT, Schematron, and (even a few) SGML classes.

Why I Seem Familiar

I teach XML for many companies and speak at many XML conferences. I’ve taught lots and lots of people their very first XML, XSLT, and SGML.

What I Do in My Free Time

What’s free time? Real Answer: I am on the Conference Committee of Balisage: The Markup Conference (the XML geek conference in Montréal in August) and was on the committee for Extreme Markup Languages® in previous years.

Today’s Philosophy

Never-Out-of-Date Philosophy

Objects on the calendar are closer than they appear.

Distinguishing Characteristics (1)

A white Volvo station wagon that is so full of boxes, books, and objects that friends call me a “high-tech bag lady”, and people in parking lots avoid the car.

Distinguishing Characteristics (2)

I own more books than my local Public Library.

Secret Shame

I have not read all of those books. In fact, the not-yet-processed books fill multiple book cases in several rooms.
