XSL-FO Spec Sets Levels of Conformance

• Three Levels
  • basic — Minimum level of pagination or aural rendering
  • extended — Everything else for sophisticated pagination except some conveniences
  • complete — Everything (Example: font-selection-strategy)
• Not as useful as they sound
  • because there are parts nobody does
  • so actual levels are really higher than reported levels
• Applications generally provide
  • Basic conformance
  • Some part of Extended conformance; and
  • Conformance table
    including any extensions
