• Different products have different strengths
• Nobody implements all of the very large XSL-FO spec
• Products add non-compatible, non-spec useful extensions
• XSL-FO stylesheets are not 100% interchangeable
  • looks great from product A
  • looks lousy from product B
  • blows up in product C
• Support varies for
  • forms and fill-in-the-blank
  • equations (MathML or TeX or both)
  • tables
  • writing direction and hyphenation
