The Complete XSL-FO Picture

In XSL-FO processing

• Tags and content in an XML document
• Are transformed
  • from their XML tags
  • into XSL-FO tags
    • which describe the styling
    • and hold the content
• XSL-FO rendering engine
  • understands these tags
  • makes pages from them (PDF, Postscript, RTF, etc.)
• And printed/displayed using a display engine
  (like Adobe Acrobat for the PDF or Word for the RTF)
