XML Training: Working with Files
Converting HTML to XML
(half-day lecture, with lots of examples)
Many applications that are now produced, managed, and published in HTML will be “converted” to XML in the near future. Some people talk about this conversion as if it were a simple syntax change. In a few cases, it is, but more often, even the syntax change presents significant challenges of interpretation – and the real benefits of conversion to XML depend on also getting the content into a richer tag set. What will you face, and how do you deal with it? This course covers identifying the decisions that must be made in converting HTML to XML, and choosing among approaches to converting various types and qualities of HTML.
Prerequisites: Participants should know HTML and preferably have experience working with HTML files.
